Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we do require appointments to receive veterinary care. Please call us to schedule an appointment.
We recommend having annual wellness exams with our veterinarians so they can continuously monitor your pet's overall health and address any concerns early.

It depends on the medication! In order for us to prescribe a medication we have to have seen your pet within the past year. There are also certain medications that require bloodwork before being refilled.Refilling of antibiotics often requires a recheck exam depending on the situation - the doctor may need to evaluate the patient to make sure we are treating with the right medication for the right condition.
Here at Clinton Veterinary Clinic we specialize and focus on dog and cat exams and care. For exotic animal care we recommend:1800 Madison Road, Beloit, WI(608)362-2952
Yes! Before any surgery is scheduled your pet will need a presurgical exam. We need to make sure your pet is healthy enough for surgery, discuss any questions or concerns that you have, and make sure it is a procedure that we will be able to perform and the appropriate amount of time can be scheduled.
We can always provide an estimate based on your pet's weight for routine surgical procedures like spay/neuter. There are optional items on an estimate like presurgical bloodwork and IV fluids.Procedures like mass removals, more specialized surgeries, and dentals are a little harder to give an estimate but we still do our best - there probably will just be a larger range in possible cost due to variables like time and medications needed. We always recommend a presurgical exam so we can give you our best estimate!
Saying goodbye to your pet can be one of the most difficult times your family will go through. We strive to help make that experience as comforting and peaceful as possible no matter what the situation may be. Euthanasia can be scheduled by appointment or on an emergency basis but a phone call is always appreciated so we can be prepared for you and help suggest an appropriate time to arrive. You will always be allowed to spend as much time as you need with your pet either before medication is administered or after. We can help with any questions you have about the process at any time. The first medication given is a strong sedative and pain medication given by injection in the muscle to help your pet relax and be peaceful. The last medication given is an injection in the vein that helps gently stop your pets' heart from beating. You are welcome to stay for as little or as much of this process as you are comfortable with. We understand that this is different for each individual. After the euthanasia, you have several options: you can bring your pet home with you for burial, or we do offer both group and private cremations.
We offer group or private cremations. For group cremations, your pet is cremated, but not individually and the ashes will not be returned to you.Whereas, for private cremation, your pet will be individually cremated and all of their ashes will be returned to you in an urn.
We can make a clay impression of your pets' paw upon request.
